I spent almost an year in Mumbai for my Job and yes it's true that the city never sleeps. At many places you may find the same congestion of traffic 24*7. The city has an good and positive aura which I have never experienced anywhere else. For example almost all autos rickshaws run on meter and would never charge you extra. On one occasion, a good "autowala" gave me a free ride for a long distance. People don't use abusive language in Mumbai unlike Delhi/NCR and girls are safe even while travelling at night. Apart from few cases of eve teasing the crime percentage is much lesser than Delhi.
People enjoy every festival irrespective Durga Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Republic Day or Eid. The city is only expensive when it comes to shelter. Food is cheaper than Gurgaon. You can find South Indian food in every corner. Night life is amazing there.
A ride in a local train will be an experience you don't want to miss. If you get a chance, go and enjoy Mumbai.
