The must visit Mount Abu

Mount Abu, a dreamy hills station located on the western part of Rajasthan is a favorite honeymoon destination and a peaceful holiday place. In comparison to the other cities in Rajasthan, this place has a relatively cool climate. The place is not very large and the best medium of transport is to hire a two wheeler ranging between Rs.250-300.

The main attraction of Mount Abu is Dilwara Jain Temple. The temple is more then 1000 years old and offers an architecture which is mesmerizing. Unfortunately mobile phones and DSLR's are not allowed inside the premises. The interior of the temple is breathtakingly beautiful and I must say that it looks prettier than Taj Mahal ! Inside the temple, the carvings on the walls and ceilings are so accurate that it is hard to imagine that someone had done it with only ancient tools.

The second most visited place in Mount Abu is Nakki Lake. A small lake surrounded by hills is beautiful picnic spot where you can enjoy boat rides and local cuisines. The place bustles with lot of crowd every day!!

Don't miss the lovely sunrise in Mount Abu. I woke up early to capture the beautiful hues of the sky.

Trevor's Tank- A lesser known place, this is a breeding place of crocodiles. A quaint place in the middle of a forest is spooky and adventurous. Spotting crocs here is a challenge! Rest, you can bask in the Sun, mount the bird's eye hill top or just soak in the tranquility of the place.

Udaipur- Dudh Talai and Deen Dayal Upadhayay Park

Explore Udaipur through my photo blog.

Dudh Talai-
This small lake, as the locals say was full of milk many years ago. The white color of milk gave the name "Dudh"Talai to this place. Adjacent to Lake Pichola, this little lake is closed for any commercial activity.

Deen Dayal Upadhayay Park-
An elevated road running opposite to Dudh lake leads to rope-way entrance and Deen Dayal Upadhayay Park. The place is lush green for anyone to relax. The beautiful sunset in Pichola is viewed from here which draws lot of crowd each day. There is an entrance fees of Rs 5 for the park.

Udaipur- Sajjangarh Biological Park and Monsoon Palace (Sajjan Garh Palace)

Sajjangarh biological park and Monsoon palace are located at the same place. The gate on left leads to the Zoo while the gate on right is the way towards the palace a top a hill.

The park is huge and private vehicles are not allowed inside. But you can rent a bicycle or take a ride in a battery operated taxi. However that is little expensive in case you don't want to share it with other tourists. The 1st option worked best for us as I needed some extra time to click some good photos. Couple of things to kept in mind before going on an adventure on bicycle (We city people are not much used to cycle, so I call it an adventure)

1. Wear comfortable clothes. The terrain is smooth but lots of up's and down.
2. Carry lot of water because the water facility inside is not at all clean.
3. Wear sports shoes.
4. Take a test ride of the bicycle
5. Ensure covering heads in the Sun.

Sajjangarh or Monsoon palace was built as a summer retreat and to see monsoon clouds passing by. The palace gives a bird eye view of Udaipur. To reach here, one needs to hop into a taxi that costs Rs 90 per person and another Rs 50 as palace's entry fee.
